This summer holiday, after some online research, I led a group of Taiwanese university students and young people to Rongjiang County, Guizhou Province and hosted a culture camp themed on literature and reporting. As someone who has long been engaged in writing, I hope this approach would help everyone gain a deeper understanding of social life and cultural environment in the Chinese Mainland.
After the deputy county mayor’s introduction, I came up with new ideas. I plan to write a “Village Chief’s Diary” during my ongoing stay in the village. Taking cues from Chairman Mao’s research methods, I will document village stories and use written words to show the true realities of grassroots life to Taiwan compatriots.
I believe this will play a greater role in fostering mutual understanding and emotional bonds between people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and in advancing the concept of “one family across the Strait”. Thank you all!
