On May 13, the fourth ministerial meeting of the China-Latin America Forum was held in Beijing. Guests from various countries gathered in Beijing to write a new chapter of shared destiny. When meeting with Brazilian guests, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that as two major developing countries in the Eastern and Western Hemispheres, the two countries should stand at a new historical starting point, adhere to strategic mutual trust, expand cooperation and cultural exchanges, and consolidate the foundation of the China-Brazil community of shared destiny.
In March 2025, the student team of the School of Communication of East China Normal University went to Jiangsu, Guizhou and other places to visit the wonderful practice of Chinese-style modernization in the front line of rural revitalization with members of the parliamentary delegation of the ruling party of Brazil, and witnessed the beautiful friendship of international exchanges between China and Brazil. As China-Brazil relations enter the next "golden 50 years", the School of Communication of East China Normal University and the Global South Academic Forum grandly launched a bilingual documentary short film in English and Portuguese, and officially released it on ShanghaiEye, the flagship product of international communication of Shanghai Media Group International Communication Center (SMG International). Li Xinrong and Yu Anqi, undergraduate students of the Journalism major of the School of Communication, Class of 2022, served as on-screen hosts, reporting to overseas audiences in fluent English the vivid process of the visit of the Brazilian ruling party parliamentary delegation to China this spring.

Watering friendship from southern rice fields to red relics

From March 19 to 20, 2025, the parliamentary delegation of the ruling party of Brazil visited and exchanged views in Suzhou, Jiangsu and Shanghai. In the land of fish and rice, spring ploughing is in full swing. The delegation members learned about innovative applications such as ecological rice production equipment and biocomposting technology at Suzhou Taihu Modern Agriculture Management and Service Center, Taihu Modern Agriculture Demonstration Park, and China Agricultural University Organic Cycle Research Institute (Suzhou), and felt the charm of modern ecological agriculture.

During the trip to Shanghai, representatives of the Brazilian ruling party parliament went to the Longhua Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery and the Longhua Martyrs Memorial Hall to experience the strong red atmosphere. They also visited East China Normal University at the invitation of the Institute of International Communication of East China Normal University. The two sides conducted in-depth and friendly exchanges and discussions on topics such as the current status of China-Brazil people-to-people exchanges and the contribution of China's rural revitalization achievements to the modernization of the Global South.

On March 22, 2025, the parliamentary delegation of the ruling party of Brazil went to the "Cun Chao" football field in Rongjiang. It happened that the Mojiang Hani Autonomous County of Yunnan Province came to Rongjiang to carry out football friendly matches, ethnic cultural exchanges and cultural tourism cooperation. The Mojiang team used edible coffee powder and plant carbon black mixed raw materials to interact with the local team and tourists in Rongjiang to "smear" and integrate the beautiful meaning of exorcising evil spirits and bringing good fortune into this interesting action. Through home visits and interviews, Xia Xiaochuan and members of the Brazilian delegation listened to the stories of Rongjiang's "Three New Farmers" from the aunts, "turning mobile phones into new agricultural tools, data into new agricultural materials, and live broadcasting into new agricultural activities", and gained a deep understanding of the operational advantages of China's grassroots political system and democratic practice.

On the morning of March 25, the "Xia Xiaochuan" and the parliamentary delegation of the ruling party of Brazil went to Zaidang Village, the hometown of Dong songs. The local villagers welcomed everyone with a door-to-door wine ceremony, and sang with Brazilian friends. In the drum tower, everyone sat together to exchange experiences and stories of protecting and inheriting ethnic culture in the process of rural revitalization. The Internationale, sung by the whole audience, transcended different languages and cultures, connected common wishes and beliefs, and conveyed the beautiful hopes and pursuits of the Chinese and Brazilian people to build a community with a shared future for mankind and achieve the great unity of the people of the world.
There is an old Chinese poem that says, "The joy of life lies in knowing each other's heart." There is also a Latin American proverb that says, "Having friends means having treasures." At the opening ceremony of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-Latin America Forum, General Secretary Xi Jinping described the prospects for cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries in this way. The bilingual documentary short film produced by the faculty and student team of the School of Communication vividly depicts the solidarity and cooperation between China and Brazil in sharing a common destiny, adding a fresh new footnote to the friendship between the Chinese and Brazilian people. The "Xia Xiaochuan" students cultivate a global vision in the integration of multiple cultures, improve their professional abilities in the front line of the field, tell Chinese stories based on the land of China, and demonstrate the new achievements of the School of Communication in innovative education. They also contribute the wisdom of the Normal University to the beneficial exploration of international communication in the Global South and show the style of the Normal University.
