At 19:10 on the evening of June 29, as the whistle on the green field blew, the hot night of Rongjiang Cun Chao Super Saturday slowly opened. One of the highlights of the summer news practice activities of the School of Communication of East China Normal University: "Rongjiang Cun Chao Carnival Night" live broadcast was also officially launched on Shanghai TV's "Knews".
After repeated discussions and rehearsals, the live broadcast of "Cun Chao Carnival Night" was finally divided into four major locations, including the parade of the Cun Chao cheerleaders, live calligraphy performances, the Cun Chao National K-song Conference, and the Cun Chao Special Food Culture. Although the weather was not good, the sudden rainstorm before the broadcast even briefly interrupted the machine signal, but the live broadcast team still overcame the difficulties and started the broadcast smoothly. Starting from a colorful blackboard full of event information in front of the Cun Chao Stadium, the students of the live broadcast team walked into the stadium with the camera, showing the much-anticipated "Cun Chao" event to the audience watching the news.
During the halftime break of the game, the team of Professor Shi Chunxuanzi from the School of Music of our school presented the song and dance "I Love You China". In the soaring singing, the young hosts of the School of Communication shared the various experiences of the practice team in Rongjiang, displayed the daily tabloids that condensed the team's efforts and recorded the stories of the Cun Chao, and told the development process of the Cun Chao in the interaction with the villagers and players.
Most of the hosts of this live broadcast were "new recruits" who had only practiced their on-camera skills in class. It was a big challenge for them to broadcast live in front of the camera in a noisy stadium with tens of thousands of people, coupled with the continuous showers; but it was also a valuable experience to be able to turn "learning from books" into "practice". "When it was the turn of the newspaper group to broadcast live, the rain suddenly became very heavy, and the heavy rain hit us in the face. One of the microphones suddenly stopped working." Chen Guanjin, a 2022 undergraduate student majoring in journalism, recalled the unexpected situation during the live broadcast, and the tension seemed to still linger in his heart. "Fortunately, the four of us cooperated tacitly in front of the only microphone, flexibly adjusted the content of the interview, and did not let each other's words fall on the ground. Finally, the live broadcast was successfully completed."
In the live broadcast, one square formation was particularly eye-catching - teachers and students from the School of Communication spontaneously formed a cheerleading team and entered the venue with the Zhongcheng Village square formation in Rongjiang County to cheer for the cun chao league and show the rich results of news practice to the people of Rongjiang and online viewers. While marching, the square formation held high the slogan "People's Football, International Communication", which coincided with the concept of the cun chao league "All people participate, move towards the global village".
In the square formation, the Jiaoyin Meiying team made posters for the inheritors of the Dong ethnic group's blue dyeing craft who were interviewed and photographed recently, recording the unique charm of the ethnic minority's traditional tie-dye products; the newspaper editing team framed the daily newspapers in photo frames and gave them to the cun chao participants as souvenirs. On both sides of the runway, many fans and tourists took the tabloids and shared them with their companions.
As the camera zoomed in on the green field, a special crew - the thermal imaging team - was checking the finished film. Under the guidance of Wu Jun, a teacher from the School of Communication, the students in this group used thermal imaging recorders to capture the gradually warming atmosphere of the stadium under the scorching heat wave, and will eventually produce a thermal imaging documentary. With the help of thermal sensing technology, the high-speed running players and the cheering spectators on the sidelines were presented in an ingenious way, artistically amplifying the passion on the cun chao stadium. The students also took this opportunity to deeply experience the innovative integration of technology and communication.
From trying their hand at the live broadcast of "Happy Hometown: Theme Reading Event of Harmonious Villages in Rongjiang, Guizhou" on the afternoon of June 27 to successfully winning the tough battle of the live broadcast of "Super Carnival Night in Rongjiang Village" on the evening of June 29, the students of the School of Communication have improved their skills and enhanced their professional abilities in challenges. On the afternoon of July 1, the summer news practice team of the School of Communication will also cooperate with teachers and students of Guizhou University to deliver a more exciting live broadcast answer sheet through the "Kankan News" client at the July 1 Dongxiang Song and Dance Concert in Le Village, Zhongcheng Town.
